Google Ads is exploring a different starting point for campaign creation. Rather than asking advertisers to choose from preset objectives immediately, the experimental flow invites them to explain what they want to achieve in everyday language. AI would then recommend campaign goals and advertising assets, according to Search Engine Land.
A new starting point for advertisers
A screenshot of the test shows a campaign setup page built around a simple question about the advertiser’s goal. A prominent text field lets users describe that goal before working through conventional configuration choices. The intention is to turn a business need into suggested campaign elements.
Advertisers who prefer to make those choices themselves can still select a manual campaign-creation option. The AI-led experience is therefore being tested alongside, rather than in place of, the existing workflow.
What Google has and has not confirmed
Google Ads Liaison Ginny Marvin confirmed that the interface is experimental and invited feedback on where this type of workflow might be useful.
A more conversational setup could benefit users who are unfamiliar with campaign formats, settings, or asset requirements. But Google has not disclosed who can access the test, which campaign types it covers, or when a wider release might happen.
Questions also remain about how much advertisers can adjust AI recommendations and whether the approach can accommodate advanced requirements. Its usefulness will ultimately hinge on the relevance of those suggestions and the level of control advertisers retain.
