Risk Payment is a block where Facebook prevents payments from the card linked to your ad account. Essentially, the platform signals that there is an issue with the payment method, and it will not be accepted for ad payments.
Previously, this was considered a rare block, but now it occurs frequently, even when working with “white” verticals. It is especially common when running “gray” offers.
Causes of Risk Payment
The block does not occur randomly. Causes can be divided into three groups:
1. Payment Method Issues
- Card GEO mismatch — Facebook determines the card’s country by the first six digits (BIN). If the account GEO and card country differ, Risk Payment is likely.
- Compromised card — a card previously used for fraudulent schemes or linked to hundreds of accounts may be blocked.
- Bank restrictions — the card may not support international payments or work only in certain countries.
- Insufficient funds — fees and currency conversion can prevent payment.
2. Account Issues
- Low trust — weak accounts with incomplete profiles, no identity verification, under-warmed activity, or unverified GEO have a higher risk.
- No Business Manager — having a BM with a verified company increases account trust.
- Low-quality resources — weak autorregs, virtual cards, poor proxies, or no anti-detect software increase the likelihood of a block.
3. Payment Linking Method Issues
- Facebook algorithms may evaluate the same card differently depending on whether it’s linked via Ads Manager, Business Manager, or the Page’s Ad Center. A card might pass through one tool but be blocked in another.
How to Bypass Risk Payment
- Use quality cards — international virtual cards with high trust (e.g., via PST.net) reduce the likelihood of a block.
- Account warm-up — allow the account to establish activity before linking the card and running campaigns.
- Link via Ad Center — sometimes a card passes through this tool even if blocked in Ads Manager or BM.
- Link resources to a King account with PZRD — the “mother” account’s trust spreads to linked resources, lowering risk.
- Contact Facebook support — submit a ticket specifying the account and reason (country change, travel, etc.).
Important Notes
- Risk Payment is easier to bypass than ZRD, but no method guarantees success.
- Success depends on account trust, quality of resources, and proper ad account behavior.
- Facebook’s algorithms can act unpredictably — a card may be blocked without an obvious reason.
